10-YEARS ANNIVERSARY SEMINARS

The Traditional Chinese Medicine Association & Alumni, in collaboration with the Chinese-American Planning Council-HIV/AIDS Services and SINO TV, is pleased to present three seminars featuring the distinguished masters: Dr. Gui Juan Pan, Professor Shi Aiqiao and Professor Zheng-Lun Fan. This is a rare opportunity, and one that should not be missed. The two-day program is free of charge and is divided into three sections described below.

Session I: October 18th: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM TREATMENT BEFORE BEING SICK

Dr. Gui Juan Pan is a professor at of the Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the China Academy of Chinese Medicine Science. Dr. Pan will speak about the prevention and early treatment of disease by Traditional Chinese Medicine. (Dr. Pan will speak in Chinese).

Session II: October 18th: 9:30 AM – 12:00 Noon EARN HEALTH QIGONG FROM LEADING CHINESE MASTERS

Practitioners of Qigong may achieve several health benefits from the harmonization of the Body, Breath and Mind, and a balanced coordination of the human organic system through self-adjustment of the three elements. The practice may assist recovery from an illness, improve the quality of life, and serve as a preventative measure for healthy individuals.

Professor Shi Aiqiao will present an introductory lecture, followed by a demonstration and teaching clinic. He will focus on the Ba Duan Jin practice which consists of eight movements. The technique is derived from an ancient concept of Eight Diagrams, first introduced in the “Yi Jing” (Book of Changes) in the Southern Song Dynasty. (Prof. Aiqiao will speak in English).

Master Aiqiao is a leading authority in Health Qigong, and was one of the principal developers of the discipline. He is a Professor at the internationally acclaimed Wuhan Institute of Physical Education in China.

Session III: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM LIVING WELL: THE CHINESE ART OF NURTURING LIFE

Professor Zheng-Lun Fan will present the Chinese art of nurturing life based on three key principles:

Nurturing the Spirit will focus on developing on optimistic state of mind in order to face the increasing stresses of everyday life. It will help to reduce stress, associated with living in a modern, fast-paced society.

Nurturing and the Four Seasons will discuss the relationship between the state of the body and seasonal fluctuations. It will offer practices that one can adopt to increase synchronization of the body with the four seasons.

Nurturing through Nutrition will cover the Traditional Chinese Medicine approach to nutrition which focuses on the balance of yin and yang, and improvement of “chi” circulation. Specific foods are recommended based on the individual’s physical characteristics. (Prof. Fan will speak in Mandarin with English subtitles).

Professor Zheng-Lun Fan earned his M.Sc . at the Liao-Ning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Professor Fan is the honorary Chief Physician at Cui Yue-Lie Research Center of TCM in Beijing. He is highly regarded as an expert of Chinese Medicine in China, and has practiced Chinese medicine for more than 40 years.
